Loryn Smith

Born amidst the rolling plains of Kansas, Loryn is a scientist with a master’s degree in biology, specializing in the captivating world of tiny field mice. While most might shy away from rodents, Loryn embraces them with the same enthusiasm for her favorite snack—strawberry applesauce from those adorable little containers with the tin foil peelable tops. Seriously, she’ll have one with any meal. Breakfast? Sure. Lunch? Why not? Midnight snack? Absolutely!
Loryn’s love for music runs deep, though her pronunciation skills might raise a few eyebrows. Her devotion to Hozier (or as she fondly calls him, “Hose-ee-eh”) is rivaled only by her appreciation for Taylor Swift. Whether she’s belting out “Take Me to Church” with a slightly offbeat twang or jamming to “Shake It Off,” Loryn’s playlist is as eclectic as her personality.
But don’t be fooled by her innocent love for music and applesauce—Loryn has a dark side, too. Well, sort of. You see, she’s been to the infamous house of Dennis Rader, better known as the BTK serial killer. It’s a tidbit that adds a pinch of intrigue to her otherwise wholesome background.
Loryn calls Oklahoma home these days, where she’s busy honing her scientific skills at OMRF and the VA. She has a soft spot for U.S. Veterans in her heart, and because of this is dedicating a good portion of her research to improving Veteran mobility and skeletal muscle strength with age. If you ever need to know anything about mice, applesauce pairings, or how to correctly (or incorrectly) pronounce your favorite artist’s name, Loryn’s your go-to person. Don’t ask her for directions in Kansas—she might lead you straight to a true crime scene.
